We are in the beginning of 2017 and it is the BEST time of year for a launch! So, if you haven’t decided what to launch yet, let me give you 3 steps right now.
These are the 3 steps I take every year to map out the launches that I plan to hold that will lead me to my overall goals.
Step #1 – Decide on your goals.
This IS the starting place to create a path that leads you exactly where you want to go. That is why it’s so important AND what will keep you out of overwhelm. When you are clear, you don’t waste any extra energy constantly trying to figure out what to do.
If you haven’t yet, write out your top 10 business goals for the year. If you are still a bit unclear, here’s 5 steps to get clarity. (you can write out your personal goals too, but for this post I will be focusing on business goals).
Once you’ve decided on the goals, then go to the next step…
Step #2 – Reverse Engineer your goals.
This step is one of the common areas that gets missed. I remember when I was taught to set S.M.A.R.T. goals many years ago. I would write out my top 10 for the year, and then put it away. I did keep them in my head but never really mapped out how I would achieve them – I just followed my golden rule at the time which was, “Work Hard and All Else Will Follow.”
I did that every year and at the end of the year, I managed to move a bit closer to some of the goals and some I didn’t do anything about…in fact, I just forgot about them.
Now for the difference…Reverse-Engineering!
Here’s how you do it:
Take one of your business goals and map out the way to accomplish it over the year.
So let’s say it’s a revenue goal of $100,000 AND you have goals to fill your client base and/or programs.
You can break that revenue goal down based on the services you offer so you have actual goals for each to make up the overall revenue goal.
1.) 10 new private clients – 10 x $10,000 ea. = $100,000
2.) 8 new private clients & 50 new program sales:
8 x $10,000 PLUS 25 x $497 program (2 times a year) = @$104,850
So if we take example #1, then the next step is to decide how you to launch a “new private client” campaign to fill your openings. Think about what you’ve done in that past to fill your private client spots and map out a plan to double your results.
A launch is a great way to double up on results because it’s a plan that supports you reaching a lot of people in a short period of time (like having a party).
Depending on what your service entails, you can map out when you would launch, how often and what it will take to deliver on the services over the full year.
In example #2, you may want to launch your program first and then you can upsell the option for private coaching for those who could use more support. So you would take a look at your overall calendar and decide on a date based on what you have ready to go and/or the time you need to create it.
Either way, launching whatever it is you want to fill, is a great strategy to get dramatic results quickly. So where do you begin for your launch?
Step #3 – Begin with the first problem you want to solve and go!
As shown in the examples, once you have the total goal, then reverse-engineer it to break it down, it’s time to begin with the first problem you want to solve AND GO!
You have a solution to a problem right? That’s what a business is all about. So the easiest place to start, is to launch something that you have ready to go that solves the first problem they have.
For many, this is your “Free Gift” that gives your ideal client a solution AND gives them a taste of your work that creates hunger for more.
For example, if we use my ideal client as an example. The people I help are entrepreneurs who have a message and program/product that they want to get out there with an online launch and their challenge is where to start because it feels overwhelming.
So my free gift is the: Prepare to Launch Checklist.
This solves the first challenge of figuring out what it takes to eliminate some of the overwhelm AND it prepares them to do an actual launch.
Their next challenge is how to do an actual launch, and then I have the solution for them with my Dream Launch Formula.
So what about you?
What is the first problem that your ideal client has?
What solution do you have to get started? (free training, pdf, videos, worksheets, etc.)
This solutions can be the first thing you launch so that you get a “optins” (email registrations of people who are interested in your topic/solutions).
Then take the next step to move them further with your work. This is the path you created by reverse-engineering your goals in step 2. (your program, private coaching, etc.)
So are you ready? I invite you to take the next step today. People need you!
