Entrepreneurs are typically the ones who are change agents in corporate culture. They are the ones who shake things up and instigate advances in the company that otherwise wouldn’t have happened. Teresa de Grosbois was one of those people, successfully working in the Oil and Gas industry in large corporations for over 20 years. But a crisis event put her in a place that made leaving corporate and moving into her own business made a great deal of sense – because it showed her in a crystal clear way that she was gifted in generating influence and teaching it to others. That was the first step in a very successful entrepreneurial career. Hear Teresa’s story on this episode of New Super Woman Entrepreneur.
Building influence is many times about nuancing the way you present yourself.
That’s because the way people perceive you is 90% of what determines whether you’ll have influence. The good news is that you’re the one with the most power in impacting how others perceive you. Many times it’s in the little things you do and say. Do you introduce yourself as a coach who also does speaking? If you do, you won’t get invited to speak at many events. But if you introduce yourself as a speaker, who also coaches, you’ll see that change almost immediately. There are lots of little tips like this from today’s guest, Teresa de Grosbois, so make sure you set aside time to listen to this episode… and take notes so that you can grab all the nuggets she has to share.
If you want to build influence, you need to master one simple thing.
What is that one thing? It’s generosity. People love generous people and bend over backward to lift them up and move them forward. Today’s guest, Teresa de Grosbois is an expert on building influence and she insists that if you start giving influence to others they will soon be following suit on your behalf. That’s because you’re doing things that bring great value to them and they will want to see you thrive as a result. What the key to pulling off a tremendously busy life?
Today’s guest, Teresa de Grosbois says it’s in building a team. She now has 14 people working on her team and they are living all over the world. She sees her success and the way that she’s able to have the influence and success she has dependent entirely on that team. It goes for her family relationships too. She’s worked hard to build a culture in her home where everyone in the family supports each other in pursuing their dreams, so the teamwork factor is working there as well. In this episode Teresa shares a lot of insight into how to build a team, even how to do it on a budget, and the benefits you’ll see coming from it in a very short amount of time.
