Our guest today is Dr. Joy Martina, holistic psychologist, and rapid change coach. She loves to help people heal their conflicts, overcome challenges and get results fast. She sees herself as a sabotage detective (finding ways you’re sabotaging your own efforts), and “soulution” facilitator. She’s known for her down to earth approach and unique combination of rational left-brain strategies and right brain intuitive capacities. She’s been coaching clients on lifestyle changes for 10 years. In this delightful conversation Dr. Joy shares her tips and strategies for women entrepreneurs with Maribel. They chat about habits and habit creation, sleeping your fat away, and tons more exciting stuff you’ll really enjoy. Be sure to set aside time to hear this conversation. It will help you move your business forward.
The most powerful change: Create your own habits.
Everybody knows the slavery that bad habits can create in your life. Emotional or stress-based eating. Hitting “snooze” when the alarm goes off. Reaching for a cigarette after the previous one is done. What’s the best way out of those? Dr. Joy Martina says that the most powerful thing you can do is to create your own habits to help you undo those destructive patterns through new, healthier habits. You can hear more about how she suggests you approach the issue of building new habits and the practical implications it can have for getting over those hurdles that are holding you back on this episode of the New Super Woman Entrepreneur.
3 steps to creating good habits: Trigger, Action Pattern, Reward.
How do you build a new habit? It’s a bit more involved than just starting and trying to remain consistent. You need to tie it to some other things to make it truly effective. There are 3 steps: First is the “trigger.” This is a thing that regularly occurs that you can use to remind yourself to practice your new habit. When you shake a person’s hand, when you hear the email alert chime, when the dog barks – these are all regular occurrences you can use to hang your new habit on and each time they happen intentionally practice that habit. The next is action… which we’ve already stepped into by acting on the trigger. The third is reward… which is more involved than we can cover here, so make sure you listen to this episode to hear Dr. Joy Martina upack this great skill.
The power of asking for help.
On this episode of The New Super Woman Entrepreneur, Maribel Jimenez asked Dr. Joy Martina to share the “power move” she made that has most impacted her bottom line profitability in her business. Without hesitation Dr. Joy answered, “Asking for help.” As she unpacked her response it became clear that she meant in every area of her life – dealing with chores at home and in seeking others to help her with tasks related to the business that needed to be done but were not essential for her to do. That lesson has translated into exponential opportunities for her to invest her time and energy in things that are much more profitable for the business, moving it forward faster and with more effectiveness.
Keys to Dr. Joy’s success: Structure and order.
Dr. Joy Martina has grown her business from a very small dream into a 7 figure success story in a very short period of time. When asked how she was able to become so successful so quickly she says it all has to do with the structure and order she’s been able to build into her business. With the right systems in place many things that would normally take up tons of time and energy can be automated or streamlined, making it possible to do more things in the same amount of time. That translates into more productivity, creativity, and in the end, profitability. This episode of The New Super Woman Entrepreneur is packed with tips from the experience Dr. Joy has enjoyed. Be sure to listen to get your share of helpful advice.
